Ghana's Economy
Ghana is rich in underground and surface resources. Country is the largest cocoa producer in the world. The share of the world cocoa production is about 1/3. Annual production is close to three million tons. Therefore, the decline in cocoa prices has had occasional critical political consequences. Cocoa farming is carried out in small businesses almost everywhere in the country. In addition, many products are grown like rubber, coffee, cereals, coconuts, palm oil, bananas and nuts.
There are many trees in the forests of Ghana. North of the forests, Indian apples, peanuts, corn, rice are grown. Most of the villages have fruit trees and vegetable farms. After cocoa, the most important export material is rubber, coffee and coconut.
In the north of Ghana, the cattle are grown in the Akra Valley and sold in the southern markets. Sheep, goats and poultry are grown all over the country. It exports plenty of eggs and chicken meat. A significant amount of fishing is carried out on the river and sea shores.
