Economy of Seychelles
The economic growth in the country has been realized thanks to the tourism sector, where 30% of the workforce is employed and 70% of total income is provided. Tuna is one of the main export items. The country is trying to attract foreign capital in order to ensure restructuring in the areas of management, hotel and other tourism. In recent years, the government has been keen to support and develop agriculture, fisheries and small-scale production in order to ensure that the country's economy does not depend solely on the tourism sector. The tourism sector, which was hit by a global financial crisis, started to recover from 2010 onwards. Work is underway to develop financial services and off-shore mechanisms, which were not previously considered because of the socialist structure. Major challenges facing the Government in the field of economics include the reduction of the budget deficit and the privatization of some state-owned enterprises.
