The Economy of Trinidad and Tobago
In Trinidad and Tobago, economics is mainly based on oil. Oil accounts for 40% of the national income and approximately 80% of the total trade. Oil is extracted from the coastal coasts of Paria Bay in South Trinidad. In addition, oil is imported from Venezuela to be refined in refineries. The main industrial products are petroleum, petrochemical products, iron-steel, sun fertilizer, sugar, plastic and methyl alcohol. There are also motor vehicle and television assembly factories.
A small percentage of the population (10%) is engaged in agriculture and ranks first among sugarcane trade crops. Other important plants are cocoa, citrus fruits, bananas and coffee.
The industrial plants of the country except for oil are related to chrome, cement and tourism. Tourism is growing. There are many luxury hotels in Trinidad. The island of Trinidad is 6400 m long. There is a 175 km railway linking the city of Port of Spain to the eastern and western towns. Airlines and sea routes are in good condition.
